SEPANG, Feb 17<\/strong> — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today visited\u00a0the Medan Selera Taman Putra Perdana\u00a0here\u00a0to have a meal of Hainanese chicken rice before going for Friday prayers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Attired in a purple baju Melayu, Anwar arrived at the food court at about 12.40 pm and had the chicken rice prepared by the stall owner, Shafeek Affendi Abdul Malik, who has been operating the business for the past 15 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anwar also greeted other patrons at the food court, and they took the opportunity to snap selfies with him as keepsakes.<\/p>\n\n\n

After having lunch with Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, Anwar proceeded to the Taman Putra Perdana Mosque, which is located about three kilometres from the food court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shafeek Affendi, 51, who hails from Taiping, Perak, said Anwar’s presence at his stall would be a treasured experience as he had never served meals to any national leader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I was so excited when told that the prime minister would stop by for lunch at my stall. Alhamdulillah, I was almost moved to tears that the No 1 leader came to my stall,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Today marks a day in history for me. I had not met Anwar before but today I was able to serve lunch to our prime minister,” added Shafeek Affendi, who learnt to cook Hainanese chicken rice in 1993.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
