Anwar"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 6<\/strong> &#8212; The political situation in Sabah has been calm with no change whatsoever in the state government, Prime Minister\u00a0Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said he was assured of the situation in Sabah after contacting Chief Minister cum Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) chairman Datuk Seri&nbsp;Hajiji Noor, Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd&nbsp;Shafie Apdal and Deputy Chief Minister cum Sabah UMNO chief&nbsp;Datuk Seri&nbsp;Bung Moktar Radin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Anwar said the matter had also been discussed with Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad\u00a0Zahid Hamidi, who is UMNO President, and DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Screenshot-2023-01-06-at-5.44.28-PM-1024x554.png\" alt=\"calm\" class=\"wp-image-16009\" width=\"556\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Screenshot-2023-01-06-at-5.44.28-PM-1024x554.png 1024w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Screenshot-2023-01-06-at-5.44.28-PM-300x162.png 300w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Screenshot-2023-01-06-at-5.44.28-PM-768x416.png 768w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Screenshot-2023-01-06-at-5.44.28-PM-185x100.png 185w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Screenshot-2023-01-06-at-5.44.28-PM-350x190.png 350w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Screenshot-2023-01-06-at-5.44.28-PM-800x433.png 800w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Screenshot-2023-01-06-at-5.44.28-PM.png 1182w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 556px) 100vw, 556px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cSabah is calm at the moment.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cI don\u2019t think there will be any development (on a change in state government), but I was informed that there are several issues and I have asked the Chief Minister to discuss the matters wisely with our friends in Sabah,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0he said in a voice message shared with the media through WhatsApp today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prior to this, there was an allegation that a certain party had obtained the majority support of the Sabah State Assembly to form a new state government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Sabah State Assembly has 79 seats, comprising 73 elected assemblymen and six appointed assemblymen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At present, GRS holds 59 seats,&nbsp;while&nbsp;Barisan Nasional has&nbsp;17, followed by Pakatan Harapan (seven), Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (three) and one each from Parti Bangsa Malaysia, Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah and Independent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, on the rumours of the purported \u201cLondon Move\u201d to topple his Unity Government, Anwar jokingly said: <em>\u201cLondon Move is so far away (and expensive), it should be cheaper, it should be Kajang Move.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was previously reported that there was a move involving several political leaders, including from UMNO and the opposition, to topple Anwar\u2019s Unity Government and they were alleged to have held their secret meeting in London recently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/\">NMT<\/a> as reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bernama.com\/en\/news.php?id=2153935\">Bernama<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 6 &#8212;
