PUTRAJAYA, Nov 29<\/strong> — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has stressed that approvals\u00a0for government procurements\u00a0under his leadership can no longer be conducted without tender.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at a gathering with the staff of the Prime Minister\u2019s Department here today, Anwar said the government under his leadership could not continue to allow leakages and corruption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere can no longer be procurements approvals without tender.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTherefore, \u00a0I would like to call on all of you to work together as a team. Let\u2019s be committed to save our country,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n\n\n

The Prime Minister said when he was in charge of the Ministry of Finance, he had given instructions not to allow his family members or close friends to have interests in government-related projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anwar, who was sworn in as the Prime Minister last Nov 24, said he was not interested in \u201ddigging\u201d the problems of the previous government, but to focus on working to improve the people\u2019s lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe people\u2019s lives,\u00a0in general,\u00a0 are not as bad as in\u00a0some countries, but they are in a rather difficult situation.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m not interested in digging up old stories..what\u2019s important is the future, what we can and should do in preparing ourselves for the future,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also present at the gathering were Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali and Attorney-General Tan Sri Idrus Harun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
