JOHOR BARU, Nov 20 <\/strong>— In light of Barisan Nasional\u2019s performance in the 15th General Election (GE15), Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi has called for Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi\u2019s immediate resignation as coalition chairman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Johor Barisan election operations director said Ahmad Zahid should follow in former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak\u2019s footsteps in 2018 and also resign as Umno president.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis noble move will help us in our first step to recovery and regain the strength of our beloved party Umno.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n

\u201cThough a bitter pill to swallow, Umno leaders, including myself, should return to the people and listen to their voices that have been translated through their votes in GE15.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMany leaders with potential and caliber in Umno, MCA and MIC were sacrificed because we did not listen to the grassroots.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe should all have the courage to change the course of the party\u2019s future,\u201d<\/em> he said in a statement on Sunday (Nov 20) following the polling day the day before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He noted that Umno has \u201ccollapsed\u201d under the Malay political tsunami where the community has \u201crejected Umno\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBarisan and Umno only won nine parliamentary seats in Johor while none of the parliamentary seats in Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Melaka, Kelantan and Terengganu went to us,\u201d<\/em> he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
