JOHOR BAHRU, Nov 16<\/strong> — Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has dismissed allegations that ties between\u00a0Bersatu and\u00a0PAS are not strong as their cooperation is just like\u00a0‘kahwin mutaah’ (contract marriage).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bersatu president said the relationship between the two parties was very strong as they were both founders of the coalition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Our cooperation is very strong because PAS is also a founder of PN, then\u00a0Gerakan,\u00a0Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) and\u00a0Parti Maju\u00a0Sabah (SAPP) joined. But the founders are\u00a0Bersatu and\u00a0PAS;\u00a0it is not a contract marriage.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThey (detractors) are saying this because they are (jealous) of our strong support,”<\/em> he told reporters after the\u00a0\u2018Sembang Petang Bersama Abah\u2019 programme at\u00a0Taman Sri Stulang here.<\/p>\n\n\n

He said this when asked to comment on UMNO vice-president Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid\u2019s allegation that ties between Bersatu and PAS in PN were like a contract marriage and thus it was not surprising for leaders of the two parties to issue contradictory statements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan had been reported as saying in Kota Bharu yesterday that PN was confident it could form a coalition government with other parties especially Barisan Nasional (BN) after the 15th General Election (GE15).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, Takiyuddin issued a statement today saying his remarks about possible PN-BN cooperation post-GE15 had been taken out of context and the headlines used by several media outlets were misleading.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Muhyiddin reiterated that PN would not enter into an alliance with other parties or coalitions to form the government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We want to fight on our own single platform which is PN. There is no intention to work with BN, what more\u00a0PH (Pakatan Harapan),”<\/em> said Muhyiddin, who is defending the\u00a0Pagoh parliamentary seat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asked on PH chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim\u2019s allegation that PN was the richest party in Malaysia, he challenged the PKR president and Tambun parliamentary candidate to show proof.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhere is the evidence? If you want to disclose both\u00a0PN\u00a0and\u00a0PH accounts, I\u2019m\u00a0willing. Does Anwar dare to?”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are a new party;\u00a0we don\u2019t have many\u00a0resources. We just depend on people who want to help us,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anwar was reported as saying that PN had become the richest party after getting contracts worth billions of ringgit during the COVID-19 pandemic when Muhyiddin was the prime minister.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
