Kuala Lumpur, Nov 15<\/strong> — Mobile phones are not allowed in voting areas for the general election, the Election Commission (EC) announced in a statement tonight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Voters with mobile phones must place them in stipulated places after receiving their ballot papers and collect them after having completed voting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe implementation of the new voting guidelines can be referred to in the poster \u201810 Voting Steps Guidelines\u2019 that explains the full voting process,\u201d<\/em> the statement said.<\/p>\n\n\n

Further details will be posted on the EC\u2019s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Notices and posters about the mobile phone ban will be placed outside and inside voting areas as reminders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The commission also reminded voters to remember to keep voting information to themselves and comply with the set voting measures while at voting areas (channels).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Polling day is Nov 19, while early voting takes place tomorrow for certain voters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
