JAKARTA, Nov 2<\/strong> — Russia and ASEAN countries have expressed the need to advance and expand energy, technological and industrial cooperation in the energy industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants from both sides gathered in Moscow for the Russian Energy Week International Forum 2022 held on Oct 12-14, according to the organiser, Roscongress Foundation, in a statement today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It said they also discussed the need to increase the supply of Russian energy resources to Asia-Pacific and build joint operations in ASEAN countries to respond to customer requests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following talks on the sidelines of the forum, it said the Russian Energy Agency and the ASEAN-Russia Business Council have planned practical steps to promote a platform for collective energy security in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n

Russia-ASEAN Business Council chairman Ivan Polyakov said Russian fuel and energy companies have an opportunity to become a factor in the energy stability and security of ASEAN countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said the companies could take part in oil and gas exploration and development and in major infrastructure projects, including liquefied natural gas expansion, nuclear power, hydropower and renewable energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere is also a lot of scope for Russian designers and engineering companies to participate in ASEAN projects,\u201d<\/em> he said, adding that their participation in ASEAN countries is very limited currently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Roscongress Foundation said the next series of talks with potential partners would take place at the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on Nov 9-10, ahead of the upcoming ASEAN Summit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
