GEORGE TOWN, Oct 23<\/strong> —\u00a0Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman\u00a0Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has given his clearest hint yet that there will be no\u00a0cooperation between the coalition and\u00a0Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) in the 15th\u00a0general election (GE15).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat cooperation? When did I say that? (open to cooperation with GTA). All I said was that \u2018talks\u2019 can be held with anyone. If (discussions) are needed,\u00a0I am in Penang today, and Sarawak tomorrow.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTo me, given the current circumstances, it\u2019s better to meet the people. It\u2019s not that we have not had meetings before (with GTA protem chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad),\u201d<\/em> he told reporters at a Penang PKR leadership dinner here.<\/p>\n\n\n

Also present were PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar and Penang DAP chairman and Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prior to this, Dr Mahathir had reportedly said that GTA was willing to hold talks with Anwar on possible cooperation with PH in GE15. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anwar, however, declined to reply when asked if he received any requests from GTA for discussions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The PKR president recently said\u00a0he has no qualms about meeting Dr Mahathir\u00a0to discuss political cooperation for GE15.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, he stressed that PH\u2019s emphasis was on fighting the Perikatan Nasional (PN) and Barisan Nasional (BN) coalitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Anwar said Nurul Izzah will most likely defend the Permatang Pauh parliamentary seat. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2026\u00a0it is (defending Permatang Pauh) heading that direction.. big possibility yes,\u00a0very big possibility,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was asked whether Nurul Izzah was ready to defend her seat or asked by the party to take on Ampang incumbent MP and Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Permatang Pauh seat, since 1982, has been a bastion for Anwar and his family. In GE14, Nurul Izzah won the seat with a 15,000 vote-majority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
