A total of 15\u00a0Malaysians who fell victim\u00a0to job scam syndicates in Cambodia and Laos were brought home in two separate flights today,\u00a0said Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said&nbsp;eight victims arrived from Cambodia this evening and&nbsp;seven arrived from Laos tonight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added that six more who were rescued in Cambodia will arrive later at midnight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cA total of 273 victims have been rescued in Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Myanmar from April till now out of the 401 cases reported to us.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Screenshot-2022-10-07-at-10.31.39-AM-1024x603.png\" alt=\"job scam\" class=\"wp-image-15117\" width=\"589\" height=\"346\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Screenshot-2022-10-07-at-10.31.39-AM-1024x603.png 1024w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Screenshot-2022-10-07-at-10.31.39-AM-300x177.png 300w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Screenshot-2022-10-07-at-10.31.39-AM-768x452.png 768w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Screenshot-2022-10-07-at-10.31.39-AM-170x100.png 170w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Screenshot-2022-10-07-at-10.31.39-AM-350x206.png 350w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Screenshot-2022-10-07-at-10.31.39-AM-800x471.png 800w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Screenshot-2022-10-07-at-10.31.39-AM.png 1074w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 589px) 100vw, 589px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cOf the 273 victims, some are still being detained at the respective countries\u2019 detention depots after being rescued,\u201d<\/em> he said at a joint media conference with the eight victims from Cambodia at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (klia2).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Saifuddin said Malaysian authorities, in cooperation with their counterparts in the countries concerned, were actively tracking another 128 victims of the job scam syndicates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cWe have intensified our efforts by collaborating with the authorities from the countries concerned to track down the others, (while) those who have been rescued and, after (completing) the countries\u2019 legal processes, will be brought home as soon as possible.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cAs a nation that\u00a0respects the law, we must accept and allow those countries involved to carry out the necessary processes,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Saifuddin, meanwhile, advised victims who had been abused and so on to lodge police reports in the countries concerned to facilitate the police there to carry out investigations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cMy advice is that we must be very careful if making any statements regarding such issues, the best is that if we have information to give it to the police because that is more useful.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cThis is also because we are concerned that if the statements are made, they could interfere with police investigations and, if the words used are misinterpreted, they could affect the diplomatic ties between Malaysia and the country concerned,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/\">NMT<\/a> as reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bernama.com\/en\/news.php?id=2126874\">Bernama<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SEPANG, Oct 7 &#8212;
