{"id":14799,"date":"2022-09-05T11:22:49","date_gmt":"2022-09-05T03:22:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/?p=14799"},"modified":"2022-09-05T11:22:50","modified_gmt":"2022-09-05T03:22:50","slug":"foreign-fund-inflows-continued-for-7th-consecutive-week-at-rm190-million","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/?p=14799","title":{"rendered":"Foreign fund inflows continued for 7th consecutive week at RM190 million"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 5<\/strong> &#8212;\u00a0In a shortened trading week due to the Merdeka public holiday, Bursa Malaysia continued to see net buying activities from\u00a0foreigners, which had net bought RM190.9 million\u00a0worth of equities last week, slightly lower than the RM244.6 million recorded in the prior week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a weekly fund flow report today, MIDF Research said this was the seventh consecutive week of net inflows from foreigners for the week ended Sept 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cIt was also the second longest streak of foreign net buying for this year. The longest streak was between the week ending Feb 11,\u00a02022 to the week ending April 8,\u00a02022\u00a0consisting of nine\u00a0consecutive weeks,\u201d<\/em> it said.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the research firm, for last week, foreigners were net sellers only on Thursday at&nbsp;RM90.1 million but were net buyers for the rest of the week.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Screen-Shot-2022-04-04-at-09.56.12.png\" alt=\"week\" class=\"wp-image-13645\" width=\"639\" height=\"366\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Screen-Shot-2022-04-04-at-09.56.12.png 822w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Screen-Shot-2022-04-04-at-09.56.12-300x172.png 300w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Screen-Shot-2022-04-04-at-09.56.12-768x440.png 768w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Screen-Shot-2022-04-04-at-09.56.12-175x100.png 175w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Screen-Shot-2022-04-04-at-09.56.12-350x201.png 350w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Screen-Shot-2022-04-04-at-09.56.12-800x458.png 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 639px) 100vw, 639px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cThe heaviest inflow of RM219.6 million was recorded on Tuesday, while Monday and Friday saw inflows of RM61 million\u00a0and RM400,000\u00a0respectively. The market was closed on Wednesday in conjunction with Malaysia\u2019s Independence Day.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cThe top three sectors that saw the most net inflows by foreigners were financial services, consumer products and services and utilities at RM201.7 million, RM58.4 million and RM51.6 million respectively,\u201d<\/em> it said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, MIDF Research said&nbsp;the highest net outflows were industrial products and services at RM102.8 million, technology at RM51.4 million and plantation at RM26.6 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Going into seven consecutive weeks, it said local institutions remained net sellers after they have net sold RM233.2 million last week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cLocal retailers were still on a net buying spree last week after they have bought RM42.6 million worth of equities. They were net buyers during every trading day except for Friday,\u201d<\/em> it said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To date, MIDF Research said international investors have been net buyers for 24 out of the 35 weeks of 2022, with a total net inflow of RM8.16 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cLocal institutions were net sellers for 28 out of 35 weeks, with a total net outflow of RM10 billion. Local retailers have been net buyers for 23 out of 35 weeks of 2022.
