ANKARA, Turkiye, Aug 17<\/strong> — Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has been conferred the\u00a0Turkish Order of the State,\u00a0the highest\u00a0award\u00a0of the Turkish government,\u00a0in conjunction with His Majesty\u2019s state visit to Turkiye.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Al-Sultan Abdullah received the award from Turkiye President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the Presidential Palace, making him the first ASEAN head of state to be given the honour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His Majesty is among five heads of state conferred the award under the leadership of Erdogan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The other recipients\u00a0were\u00a0the King of Saudi Arabia, King Salman Abdul Aziz;\u00a0King Philippe of Belgium;\u00a0Emir of Kuwait\u00a0Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi.<\/p>\n\n\n

At the same ceremony, Al-Sultan Abdullah bestowed Malaysia\u2019s highest award, the Darjah Utama Seri Mahkota Negara (D.M.N), on Erdogan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The D.M.N is accorded to a State Ruler but is also bestowed on an honorary basis on a foreign head of state and other most esteemed people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apart from Erdogan, the other foreign heads of state conferred the D.M.N were Queen Elizabeth, Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad Khalifa Al-Tahni, King Salman Abdul Aziz and Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha, the consort of the Sultan of Brunei.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the award presentation ceremony, His Majesty attended a Traditional Concert hosted by Erdogan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His Majesty\u00a0was\u00a0accompanied\u00a0by Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandaria and their daughters Tengku Puteri Raja Tengku Puteri Afzan Aminah Hafizatullah and Tengku Puteri Raja Tengku Puteri Jihan Azizah \u2018Athiyatullah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier, Their Majesties attended a state banquet hosted by Erdogan and his wife Emine Erdogan at the Presidential Palace after being accorded a state welcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The King and Queen will have a busy schedule during their seven-day state visit to Ankara and Istanbul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
