The Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) will continue to empower youth in Malaysia and\u00a0Southeast Asia through more youth diplomacy engagements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The United States Ambassador to Malaysia Brian D McFeeters said as the YSEALI programmes have recorded success stories of its alumni and marked many positive impacts across the region, the platform will leverage the existing network to better connect the youth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOver the past nine years, YSEALI has been a powerful platform that has demonstrated the power of youth exchanges to foster positive change around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are immensely proud of our YSEALI Malaysian alumni who are fulfilling the promise of the programme to cultivate the next generation of leaders focused on their communities and their country.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Screenshot-2022-08-13-at-3.17.55-PM-1024x640.png\" alt=\"yseali\" class=\"wp-image-14589\" width=\"667\" height=\"417\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Screenshot-2022-08-13-at-3.17.55-PM-1024x640.png 1024w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Screenshot-2022-08-13-at-3.17.55-PM-300x188.png 300w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Screenshot-2022-08-13-at-3.17.55-PM-768x480.png 768w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Screenshot-2022-08-13-at-3.17.55-PM-160x100.png 160w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Screenshot-2022-08-13-at-3.17.55-PM-350x219.png 350w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Screenshot-2022-08-13-at-3.17.55-PM-800x500.png 800w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Screenshot-2022-08-13-at-3.17.55-PM.png 1174w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 667px) 100vw, 667px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis (today\u2019s Summit) is the chance for the alumni to work together and how they can follow up (networking) with each other on ongoing issues which includes mental health, climate crisis and all issues faced by both countries (Malaysia and the US), as well as\u00a0ASEAN.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>McFeeters told reporters this after the launching of YSEALI Malaysia Summit themed \u201cThe Rise of Youth Power in Malaysia and Southeast Asia\u201d here, today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Organised by the YSEALI Council of Malaysia (YCOM), the one-day summit is supported by the US embassy in Malaysia and the US Department of State\u2019s Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah was also present at the event, which gathered more than 100 young leaders, including prominent alumni.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When replying to a question on how the programme\u00a0model can best empower more youth engagements among the regional bloc\u00a0member states, McFeeters said the US certainly welcomes any efforts and collaborations in fostering youth diplomacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere are many more things that the Malaysian government could decide to do (in empowering youth) or together with ASEAN countries, and we welcome that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe more the better,\u201d he said noting there are currently 10,000 YSEALI members here in Malaysia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The YSEALI community consists of bright young leaders, 18-35 years old from Southeast Asian countries who are making a difference in their communities, countries and the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The set of programmes under the umbrella of YSEALI are, namely Academic Fellows, Professional Fellows, Regional Workshops and YSEALI Seeds For the Future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/\">NMT<\/a> as reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bernama.com\/en\/world\/news.php?id=2110556\">Bernama<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 13 &#8212;
