outlook to &#8216;stable&#8217; from &#8216;negative&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>ANKARA, July 10<\/strong> &#8212; Global ratings agency Fitch has raised the US&#8217; outlook to &#8220;stable&#8221; from &#8220;negative,&#8221; saying the revision reflects the government\u2019s improved debt dynamics and increased revenues, which Fitch says it expects to expand by 19 per cent\u00a0in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8220;Fitch now forecasts a decline in the general government debt ratio to 113 per cent\u00a0of GDP, from 118 per cent\u00a0in 2021 before beginning to rise again at a gradual pace in 2024,&#8221;<\/em>\u00a0according to its latest forecasts on Friday said.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A stronger-than-expected economic recovery has led public finances to outperform Fitch&#8217;s expectations, Anadolu Agency reported it said, noting that taxes boosted revenues while pandemic-related spending has wound down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Screenshot-2022-07-10-at-12.33.39-PM-1024x648.png\" alt=\"fitch\" class=\"wp-image-14274\" width=\"487\" height=\"308\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Screenshot-2022-07-10-at-12.33.39-PM-1024x648.png 1024w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Screenshot-2022-07-10-at-12.33.39-PM-300x190.png 300w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Screenshot-2022-07-10-at-12.33.39-PM-768x486.png 768w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Screenshot-2022-07-10-at-12.33.39-PM-158x100.png 158w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Screenshot-2022-07-10-at-12.33.39-PM-350x221.png 350w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Screenshot-2022-07-10-at-12.33.39-PM-800x506.png 800w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Screenshot-2022-07-10-at-12.33.39-PM.png 1176w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 487px) 100vw, 487px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The global agency projected that government deficit at 5 per cent&nbsp;of GDP, down from an estimated 10.2 per cent&nbsp;of GDP in 2021. &#8220;State and local governments continue to perform well, and could result in an even lower general government outturn.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fitch said it expected US growth of 2.9 per cent&nbsp;in 2022, driven by consumption underpinned by continued labor market strength with solid growth in both employment and nominal wages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, it underlined, monetary tightening will cause a slowdown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8220;High inflation will also begin to impact consumer spending,&#8221;<\/em> it said, adding that the economy will narrow in the second half of 2022 and into 2023, with below-trend growth of 1.5 per cent\u00a0in 2023 and 1.3 per cent\u00a0in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fitch&#8217;s 2022 and 2023 annual average inflation forecasts have risen to 7.8 per cent&nbsp;and 3.7 per cent&nbsp;respectively, according to Anadolu Agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The global ratings agency said it expects the Fed to hike rates at a more aggressive pace to around 3 per cent&nbsp;by year end and 3.5 per cent in the first quarter of 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The country&#8217;s headline consumer price inflation hit 8.6 per cent&nbsp;year-on year in May, the highest since the early 1980s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/\">NMT<\/a> as reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bernama.com\/en\/news.php?id=2099080\">Bernama<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ANKARA, July 10 &#8212;
