international reserves at US$109.2 billion as at June 15"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>KUALA LUMPUR, June 22<\/strong> &#8212;\u00a0Bank Negara Malaysia\u2019s (BNM)\u00a0international reserves amounted to US$109.2\u00a0billion as at June 15, 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a statement today, the central bank said the reserves position is sufficient to&nbsp;finance 5.5&nbsp;months of imports of goods and services&nbsp;and is 1.1&nbsp;times the&nbsp;total short-term external debt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>BNM said the main components of the international reserves were foreign currency reserves, which stood at US$109.2\u00a0billion as at June 15, as well as the International Monetary Fund\u00a0reserve position (US$1.4 billion), special drawing rights (US$6.0 billion), gold (US$2.4\u00a0billion) and other reserve assets (US$3.1 billion).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" assets, it said gold, foreign exchange and other reserves, including SDRs, amounted to RM458.14\u00a0billion while Malaysian government papers made up RM12.59\u00a0billion, deposits with financial institutions RM621.30 million, loans and advances RM23.76\u00a0billion, land and buildings RM4.14 billion and other assets RM21.68\u00a0billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It added that capital and liabilities comprised&nbsp;paid-up capital which amounted to RM100 million, reserves (RM147.52&nbsp;billion), currency in circulation (RM159.84&nbsp;billion), deposits by financial institutions (RM158.43&nbsp;billion), federal government deposits (RM11.67&nbsp;billion), other deposits (RM5.26&nbsp;billion), Bank Negara papers (RM5.26&nbsp;billion), allocation of SDRs (RM28.12&nbsp;billion) and other liabilities (RM4.41&nbsp;billion).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/\">NMT<\/a> as reported by <a
