Prime Minister\u00a0Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and his Vietnamese counterpart Pham Minh Chinh today witnessed several initiatives aimed at enhancing cooperation between the two countries in various fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At a ceremony at the Government Office&nbsp;here, the two leaders witnessed exchanges of documents on various types of cooperation which had been signed earlier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Foreign\u00a0Minister\u00a0Datuk\u00a0Seri Saifuddin Abdullah exchanged a letter of intent on cooperation in diplomatic training with his Vietnamese counterpart Bui Thanh Son, while a similar exchange of documents was held with Vietnam\u2019s Labour Minister Dao Ngoc Dung on the recruitment and repatriation of workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Screen-Shot-2022-03-21-at-17.58.33.png\" alt=\"cooperation\" class=\"wp-image-13542\" width=\"440\" height=\"348\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Screen-Shot-2022-03-21-at-17.58.33.png 489w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Screen-Shot-2022-03-21-at-17.58.33-300x237.png 300w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Screen-Shot-2022-03-21-at-17.58.33-126x100.png 126w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Screen-Shot-2022-03-21-at-17.58.33-350x277.png 350w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 440px) 100vw, 440px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Attorney-General Tan Sri Idrus Harun exchanged documents on cooperation in legal\u00a0matters with Vietnam\u2019s Law Minister\u00a0Le\u00a0Thanh Long.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) editor-in-chief, Khairdzir Md Yunus, and Vietnam\u00a0News Agency (VNA)\u00a0general director Vu Viet Trang also exchanged documents on cooperation relating to news and photo exchange, technical expertise, and training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The two prime ministers had earlier led their delegations in a meeting where they discussed cooperation in&nbsp;trade and economy, regional and international issues as well as efforts to enhance bilateral ties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ismail Sabri spoke in Bahasa Melayu throughout the meeting which lasted almost two hours, and it was translated into English.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The two leaders and their delegations then attended lunch which was hosted by Chinh at Government Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ismail Sabri, who is on a two-day official visit to Vietnam, was given a red-carpet welcome at the Presidential Palace\u00a0here this morning where he was greeted on arrival by Chinh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the afternoon, the prime minister was scheduled to call on Vietnam&#8217;s President\u00a0Nguyen Xuan Phuc, followed by meetings with Communist Party of Vietnam general secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and\u00a0Chairman of the National\u00a0Assembly\u00a0Vuong Dinh Hue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The prime minister is making his maiden visit to Vietnam at the invitation of&nbsp;Chinh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ismail Sabri, who arrived yesterday, is scheduled to return to Kuala Lumpur tomorrow morning after holding a press conference for Malaysian journalists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/\">NMT<\/a> as reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bernama.com\/en\/news.php?id=2064022\">Bernama<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>HANOI, March 21 &#8212;
