JOHOR BAHRU, March 5 — Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah urged the Members of Parliament (MPs) to join the All-Party Parliamentary Group Malaysia (APPGM) to further localize and encourage the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) efforts among their constituents.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to him, 30 MPs have already joined APPGM for this purpose. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Each member will organize four to five projects in a year to localize the SDG targets among the constituents. Slowly but surely, we’ll be able to create awareness of SDG among members of the public through these projects.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“As such, we would like to invite more MPs to join this cause,”<\/em> he told Bernama after an SDG dialogue session at EduCity Hub in Bandar Medini Iskandar, here,\u00a0today\u00a0which was attended by 60 university students of various nationalities.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saifuddin said the ministry was planning to extend its SDG localization efforts to the northern part of Peninsular Malaysia, particularly at the Thailand-Malaysia border.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Almost 50 percent of the border trade between these two countries happens there. Thus, we’re taking this dynamic into account in our localization efforts,”<\/em> he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Previously, Saifuddin reportedly\u00a0said that the ministry was working closely with stakeholders, including the local authorities\u00a0in an effort to localize SDG in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
