Tengku Zafrul"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 19 &#8212; The Ministry of Finance (MoF) has allocated RM1.7 billion for the Malaysia Short-term&nbsp;Employment&nbsp;Programme &nbsp;(MySTEP), with the&nbsp;target of creating 80,000 jobs&nbsp;this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Minister&nbsp;Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz said the jobs could be applied&nbsp;online at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mystep.mof.gov.my\/\">http:\/\/www.mystep.mof.gov.my\/<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8220;I hope job seekers will take advantage of all the opportunities available through the MoF and the Ministry of Human Resources, either at this carnival or online through the MyFutureJobs; MySTEP and UpSkillMalaysia portals,&#8221;<\/em> he said in a speech at the launch of the JaminKerja Keluarga Malaysia\u00a0Campaign here today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/FW1224197_KL40_19022022_KERJAYA-lpr.jpg\" alt=\"mystep\" class=\"wp-image-13332\" width=\"487\" height=\"351\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/FW1224197_KL40_19022022_KERJAYA-lpr.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/FW1224197_KL40_19022022_KERJAYA-lpr-300x216.jpg 300w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/FW1224197_KL40_19022022_KERJAYA-lpr-768x554.jpg 768w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/FW1224197_KL40_19022022_KERJAYA-lpr-139x100.jpg 139w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/FW1224197_KL40_19022022_KERJAYA-lpr-350x252.jpg 350w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/FW1224197_KL40_19022022_KERJAYA-lpr-800x577.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 487px) 100vw, 487px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>MySTEP,&nbsp;one of the components under the JaminKerja initiative, is a short-term contract employment program in the public sector and government-linked companies (GLCs) and is managed by the National Economic Implementation and Strategic Coordination Agency (LAKSANA) under the MoF.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tengku Zafrul said the government&nbsp;managed to secure jobs for more than 63,000&nbsp;(63,221) graduates in 2021, surpassing the target of 50,000, of which 66 percent were placed in various government ministries and agencies, while 34 percent in GLCs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through the JaminKerja initiative, the government pursues the spirit of the job guarantee concept, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cI am confident that the government will be able to repeat last year\u2019s success where achievements had&nbsp;exceeded targets.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cNearly 560,000 jobs were created&nbsp;in 2021 against&nbsp;the initial target of 500,000,&#8221;<\/em> he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, Tengku Zafrul said according to the latest report published by the International Labour Organisation, the global unemployment rate is expected to remain at 207 million&nbsp;persons this year, compared to 186 million&nbsp;in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8220;If not addressed, it will deepen the income gap around the world, including in Malaysia&nbsp;where it&nbsp;will weaken the country&#8217;s economic, financial and social structure.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8220;In this regard, the government&#8217;s policies are aimed at avoiding long-term effects on&nbsp;the labor market, household income, and social cohesion.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cBudget&nbsp;2022, which is aligned to the 12th Malaysia Plan,&nbsp;will put the country\u2019s economy on a solid footing so that we can build a better and more resilient economy,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/\">NMT<\/a> as reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bernama.com\/en\/news.php?id=2053621\">Bernama<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 19 &#8212;
