MoE"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>JOHOR BAHRU, Feb 12 \u00a0&#8212; The Ministry of Education (MOE) will seek the cooperation of the Election Commission (EC) to avoid using\u00a0secondary schools as polling centers for\u00a0the Johor state election on March 12.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Senior Education Minister\u00a0Datuk Dr. Mohd Radzi Md Jidin said this was to ensure the smooth conduct of the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination,\u00a0which will be held from\u00a0March 2\u00a0to 29.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said MOE would send an official letter to EC on the matter soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cI received information that during\u00a0several engagement sessions, teachers complained that secondary schools will be used as polling centers for the coming state election.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cOfficially, we have not yet received an application from EC to use school premises although we know schools will normally be used.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Screen-Shot-2021-09-05-at-18.19.59.png\" alt=\"polling\" class=\"wp-image-11327\" width=\"494\" height=\"269\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Screen-Shot-2021-09-05-at-18.19.59.png 583w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Screen-Shot-2021-09-05-at-18.19.59-300x164.png 300w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Screen-Shot-2021-09-05-at-18.19.59-183x100.png 183w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Screen-Shot-2021-09-05-at-18.19.59-350x191.png 350w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 494px) 100vw, 494px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cPrior to this, we at\u00a0the ministry have\u00a0decided that where possible secondary schools should not be\u00a0used,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was speaking to&nbsp;reporters after an engagement session with teachers and the Kota Iskandar Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) at&nbsp;Hotel Trove&nbsp;here today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Radzi, numerous processes linked to the SPM examination would have to be done all over again if secondary schools were used as polling centers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cThis is a difficult period for them because the arrangements at school have been\u00a0made.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cWe do not want any disruption to the children and teachers and want to ensure that\u00a0SPM can be conducted smoothly,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>EC has&nbsp;set March 12 for&nbsp;polling, with nominations to be held on Feb 26 and early&nbsp;voting on March 8.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to EC, 1,084 polling centers would be used for the Johor polls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/\">NMT<\/a> as reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bernama.com\/en\/news.php?id=2051605\">Bernama<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>JOHOR BAHRU, Feb 12 \u00a0&#8212;
