JOHOR BAHRU, Feb 12 — Perikatan Nasional (PN) is expected to announce its list of candidates for\u00a0the Johor state election next week, said PN secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hamzah, who is also PN\u2019s Johor election director, said all 56 candidates will be scrutinized to ensure they have not committed any offenses before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Whoever we accept from component parties, we will scrutinize to see if they have criminal\u00a0records, issues with the Inland Revenue Board (IRB). And only then will we name them as candidates,”<\/em> he told reporters after presenting\u00a0Prihatin aid packages\u00a0to the Johor Bharu Taxi Drivers Association here today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his speech at the ceremony, Hamzah, who is also Bersatu\u00a0secretary-general,\u00a0said he was confident that PN, which comprises\u00a0Bersatu, PAS, Gerakan, Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku,\u00a0and Sabah\u00a0Progressive Party, could achieve success in the state election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Election Commission has set nomination day for Feb 26 and polling for March 12.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
