KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 19 —\u00a0Tan Sri Azam Baki will continue his responsibilities\u00a0as the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief\u00a0following the outcome of the Securities Commission’s\u00a0(SC)\u00a0inquiry which has\u00a0not found him committing any offense in relation to a trading account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement today, Azam said he was thankful for the SC’s decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Alhamdulillah (praise be to God),\u00a0I am thankful for the decision of the SC which has found that I have not committed any offense. I have been informed by the SC that the inquiry into the matter has been concluded. As such, it has closed the inquiry file accordingly.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“With that, I will continue my responsibilities\u00a0as the Chief Commissioner of the Malaysian Anti- Corruption Commission (MACC) to fight corruption in the country without fear or favor,”<\/em> he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier, SC in a statement said it had concluded that its inquiry\u00a0in relation to Azam\u2019s trading account\u00a0and based on the evidence gathered, it was\u00a0not able to conclusively establish that a breach under Section 25(4) SICDA had occurred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a capital market regulator, SC said that its regulatory remit was set out under the Securities Commission Malaysia Act 1993, Capital Markets and Services Act 2007, and Securities Industry Central Depositories Act 1991.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
