Despite\u00a0being\u00a0a challenging year for Malaysia, the country still ended 2021 with a bang as total trade, for the first time in history, breached the RM2 trillion mark, according to Senior Minister and International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trade expanded\u00a024.6 percent year-on-year to RM2.01 trillion for the January-November 2021 period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mohamed Azmin said Malaysia also attracted a total of RM177.8 billion approved investments in the manufacturing, services, and primary sectors in the period from January to September 2021,\u00a0representing an outstanding 51.5 percent jump\u00a0compared to the same period in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Screen-Shot-2021-03-02-at-13.47.04.png\" alt=\"trade\" class=\"wp-image-8454\" width=\"509\" height=\"279\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Screen-Shot-2021-03-02-at-13.47.04.png 581w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Screen-Shot-2021-03-02-at-13.47.04-300x165.png 300w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Screen-Shot-2021-03-02-at-13.47.04-182x100.png 182w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Screen-Shot-2021-03-02-at-13.47.04-350x192.png 350w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 509px) 100vw, 509px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>&#8220;All said, despite the ominous misgivings of doomsday pundits and naysayers, our trade performance and foreign direct investment\u00a0success for 2021 have placed us on the right track for sustainable, strong, and prosperous economic growth,\u201d<\/em> said the Senior Minister in his New Year 2022 message released tonight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, Mohamed Azmin called for&nbsp;efforts to&nbsp;be redoubled in 2022 to ensure that Malaysia remains competitive through greater economic complexity as the global economic outlook remains challenging amid&nbsp;uncertainty and volatility.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>&#8220;Let us enter 2022 with a new strategy and rekindled resolve to drive the digital economy, green technology, and Fourth Industrial Revolution sectors.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>&#8220;We must strengthen our conviction to realize our National Investment Aspirations and\u00a0implement the environmental, social and governance agenda in order to generate\u00a0the investment ecosystem so crucial in attracting high quality, technology-oriented\u00a0investment and ensuring long-term sustainability and creating high-skilled jobs,&#8221;<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While entering 2022 with hope and confidence, he said, Malaysian should brace\u00a0for the challenges of the New Year and strengthen the commitment to work even harder together as a family, towards the advancement of the nation for peace and prosperity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/\">NMT<\/a> as reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bernama.com\/en\/business\/news.php?id=2039341\">Bernama<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 1 &#8212;
