Saudi Arabian Cabinet Minister Prince Turki bin Mohammad bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz has stated his intention to assist Malaysia by\u00a0providing contribution\u00a0and assistance\u00a0to Malaysians affected by floods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The matter was announced by Senior Defence Minister&nbsp;Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein in a statement today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>&#8220;This morning I was contacted by Prince Turki bin Mohammed bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia who stated his intention to assist our efforts by\u00a0providing\u00a0aid and contribution\u00a0to Malaysians who were affected by floods via the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile,&nbsp;Hishammuddin said the Defence Ministry through the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) are now focusing on post-flood assistance and preparations to face the possibility of a second wave of floods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A total of\u00a0998 MAF personnel and officers comprising the Malaysian\u00a0Army (TDM), Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) and the Royal Malaysian Air Force were mobilised with 96 assets of various types including trucks, combat boats, outboard motors (OBM) and\u00a0EC725 helicopters to flood-affected states including Selangor, Pahang, Negeri Sembilan, Kelantan and\u00a0Melaka as of yesterday, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Screen-Shot-2021-12-27-at-09.59.39.png\" alt=\"prince\" class=\"wp-image-12806\" width=\"482\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Screen-Shot-2021-12-27-at-09.59.39.png 589w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Screen-Shot-2021-12-27-at-09.59.39-300x187.png 300w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Screen-Shot-2021-12-27-at-09.59.39-160x100.png 160w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Screen-Shot-2021-12-27-at-09.59.39-350x218.png 350w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 482px) 100vw, 482px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said MAF had successfully evacuated 32,661 flood victims to temporary relief centres (PPS) as of yesterday with the cooperation of the Royal Malaysian Police (RMP), Fire and Rescue Department, Health Ministry as well as all related agencies via&nbsp;Ops Murni.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>&#8220;MAF\u2019s plan will continue in all flood areas by stepping up the implementation of post-flood\u00a0cleaning including the prevention of the\u00a0COVID-19 outbreak.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cThis is in line with the statement of Defence Forces chief,\u00a0Gen Tan Sri Affendi\u00a0Buang yesterday that MAF would be increasing personnel to 500 especially for cleaning work,\u201d<\/em> he said. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hishammuddin said one MAF battalion is being placed&nbsp;on alert in each state to&nbsp;be deployed to the locations affected by floods when the need arises in the second wave of floods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This included the\u00a0emergency purchase of 55 OBM units approved by the Finance Ministry following reports\u00a0that MAF boats were being used non-stop in flood\u00a0areas he said\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the setting up of a task force for post-flood, he said&nbsp;the Ministry of Defence and MAF would give full cooperation to the team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"http:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/\">NMT<\/a> as reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bernama.com\/en\/news.php?id=2037829\">Bernama<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KUALA LUMPUR,\u00a0Dec 27 &#8212;
