{"id":12728,"date":"2021-12-19T13:45:25","date_gmt":"2021-12-19T05:45:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/?p=12728"},"modified":"2021-12-19T13:46:36","modified_gmt":"2021-12-19T05:46:36","slug":"saifuddin-to-undertake-official-visits-to-turkey-india-from-monday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/?p=12728","title":{"rendered":"Saifuddin to undertake official visits to Turkey, India from Monday"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 19&nbsp;&#8212; Malaysian Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah will be making official visits&nbsp;to Turkey from&nbsp;Monday and to&nbsp;India from Thursday.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During his visit to Turkey&nbsp;from Dec 20-22, Saifuddin is scheduled to call on&nbsp;Turkey\u2019s President&nbsp;Recep Tayyip Erdo\u011fan&nbsp;after&nbsp;a bilateral meeting with his counterpart&nbsp;Mevl\u00fct \u00c7avu\u015fo\u011flu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Both ministers will discuss initiatives to strengthen bilateral cooperation and review regional and international developments,\u201d said the Malaysian Foreign Affairs Ministry (Wisma Putra) in a statement today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Saifuddin\u00a0will also have engagements with the media, think tank, and academia to promote peaceful coexistence and combat\u00a0Islamophobia, in addition to engagements with humanitarian aid organizations in Turkey to discuss collaborations on international humanitarian aid and relief.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The visit reflected\u00a0the longstanding and strategic ties between the two countries, the statement said adding that it will afford the opportunity for both countries to explore joint initiatives in post-pandemic recovery efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/DATUK_SAIFUDDIN_ABDULLAH_1624179564.jpg\" alt=\"visits\" class=\"wp-image-11314\" width=\"469\" height=\"312\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/DATUK_SAIFUDDIN_ABDULLAH_1624179564.jpg 900w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/DATUK_SAIFUDDIN_ABDULLAH_1624179564-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/DATUK_SAIFUDDIN_ABDULLAH_1624179564-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/DATUK_SAIFUDDIN_ABDULLAH_1624179564-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/DATUK_SAIFUDDIN_ABDULLAH_1624179564-350x233.jpg 350w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/DATUK_SAIFUDDIN_ABDULLAH_1624179564-800x533.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 469px) 100vw, 469px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Turkey is an important economic and trade partner for Malaysia, with total bilateral trade for the period January to October 2021 registering\u00a0an increase of 81.9 percent\u00a0to RM14.08 billion (US$3.40 billion) compared to RM7.74 billion (US$1.83 billion) for the same period in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, on his visit to India from Dec 23-25,&nbsp;Saifuddin will be meeting his Indian counterpart&nbsp;Dr. S.
