{"id":12607,"date":"2021-12-07T19:42:57","date_gmt":"2021-12-07T11:42:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/?p=12607"},"modified":"2021-12-07T19:42:59","modified_gmt":"2021-12-07T11:42:59","slug":"malaysias-foreign-policy-will-remain-pragmatic-principled-and-non-aligned","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/?p=12607","title":{"rendered":"Malaysia&#8217;s foreign policy will remain pragmatic, principled, and non-aligned"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 7 &#8212; Malaysia will continue to pursue a pragmatic, independent, principled and non-aligned foreign policy that revolves\u00a0around the values of peace, justice, and equality, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said&nbsp;regardless of the evolving regional and international architecture, the cardinal principles of Malaysia\u2019s foreign policy will remain consistent and unchanged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMalaysia is a nation that subscribes to the strong belief of peaceful coexistence between nations. We will always favor the peaceful resolution of disputes over the display of military might.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe will continuously respect other nations\u2019 independence, sovereignty as well as territorial integrity and advocate the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries,\u201d he said at the launch of\u00a0Foreign Policy Framework titled \u201cFocus in Continuity: A Framework for Malaysia\u2019s Foreign Policy in a Post-Pandemic World\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Screen-Shot-2021-12-07-at-19.42.00.png\" alt=\"foreign policy\" class=\"wp-image-12608\" width=\"478\" height=\"257\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Screen-Shot-2021-12-07-at-19.42.00.png 584w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Screen-Shot-2021-12-07-at-19.42.00-300x162.png 300w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Screen-Shot-2021-12-07-at-19.42.00-185x100.png 185w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Screen-Shot-2021-12-07-at-19.42.00-350x189.png 350w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 478px) 100vw, 478px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Among those present at the launch were&nbsp;Malaysian Foreign Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah and his deputy Datuk Kamarudin Jaffar, heads of missions to Malaysia, and members of the Consultative Council on Foreign Policy (CCFP).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said that as a responsible&nbsp;member of the world family, Malaysia, however, will not hesitate to voice out its&nbsp;opinions, objections or reservations against callous and cruel acts of oppression, injustice as well as inhumanity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On another note, Prime Minister said it is pertinent for Malaysia\u00a0to strive in global recovery efforts and emerge as a resilient nation economically, socially, and politically \u2013\u00a0in the international arena, post COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTo achieve this, we would need to improve our resolve to strengthen international cooperation and multilateralism as well as have a strong conviction that we are indeed a family of nations or world family,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said COVID-19 has brought disastrous consequences to economies and fiscal stability worldwide, with&nbsp;many countries, Malaysia included,&nbsp;still attempting to appropriately deal with the pandemic\u2019s catastrophic aftermath, adding that while&nbsp;few countries have recovered, many countries remain severely challenged by the pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs for Malaysia, we are at an inflection point and it is critical to set clear directions to move towards a collective future \u2013 for the sake of our Keluarga Malaysia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI am adamant in ensuring that every policy and decision the Government undertakes would be made holistically in the best interest of Keluarga Malaysia, with the ultimate aim of spearheading the nation towards full recovery,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/\">NMT<\/a> as reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bernama.com\/en\/news.php?id=2031108\">Bernama<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 7 &#8212;
