Kuala Lumpur, Nov 21 — Najib Razak wants the property with an estimated value of RM100 million, which was supposed to be a gift from the government to him, be sold off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This follows his recent withdrawal of the request for his housing and land entitlement as a former PM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a Facebook post, the Barisan Nasional (BN) advisor suggested the Finance Ministry sell the land and house, and the earnings to be put into a special i-Citra fund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI have withdrawn the application for the right of residence, as per the government act. My decision is final.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe RM100 million raised can be put into a special fund to be given as a loan without any interest or service costs to those who have long asked for i-Citra to be increased from RM5,000 to RM10,000.<\/em>”\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is if the finance minister still refuses to approve the EPF (Employees Provident Fund) withdrawal limit increase<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Najib added that the sum could\u00a0benefit 20,000 recipients if given a value of RM5,000 per person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Thursday, Finance Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul confirmed the government had\u00a0received an application\u00a0by Najib for the RM100 million residence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tengku Zafrul said the government is considering Najib\u2019s request for the special privilege, which is accorded to former prime ministers under the Members of Parliament (Remuneration) Act 1980.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Friday, Najib said his application for the residence was\u00a0made in 2018\u00a0after the 14th general election and that the government had offered him three parcels of land to choose from, and he picked the one closest to Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later that same day, Najib\u00a0revoked his application\u00a0on the RM100 million \u201cgift\u201d, saying he did not want the matter to be an issue played up by opponents in the Melaka polls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
