Ismail Sabri"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 16 &#8212; All 67 People&#8217;s Housing (PPR) and Public Housing (PA) projects&nbsp;in&nbsp;the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur are expected to be installed with new elevators in&nbsp;two years\u2019 time, said Prime Minister&nbsp; Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has\u00a0allocated RM127 million for the replacement of\u00a0old lifts at the PPR and PA projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ismail Sabri said work on the elevator replacement is expected to begin early next year after the contract procurement process is completed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn any PPR project, lifts are essential to allow residents to move about and the government views this problem (old and damaged lifts) seriously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I hope the procurement process can be expedited and the time taken (for lift replacement) could be one to two years, depending on the contract and the number of blocks at each PPR,&#8221; he told\u00a0a press conference after visiting Seri Perak PA here, today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Screen-Shot-2021-10-16-at-12.52.30.png\" alt=\"ppr\" class=\"wp-image-12059\" width=\"503\" height=\"267\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Screen-Shot-2021-10-16-at-12.52.30.png 587w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Screen-Shot-2021-10-16-at-12.52.30-300x159.png 300w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Screen-Shot-2021-10-16-at-12.52.30-188x100.png 188w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Screen-Shot-2021-10-16-at-12.52.30-350x186.png 350w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 503px) 100vw, 503px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Also present was Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ismail Sabri said of the total allocation,&nbsp;RM8.4 million would be channeled to the Seri Perak PA which has&nbsp;been in existence for 35 years,&nbsp;for the replacement of 14 lift units at seven blocks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, he said DBKL has also allocated RM1.8 million for electrical wiring at the housing project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Prime Minister said under the Strategic Programme to Empower the People\u00a0and\u00a0Economy (PEMERKASA), the government had allocated RM15 million for the upgrade and maintenance of facilities such as drains, sidewalks, children&#8217;s playgrounds, and futsal courts at all PPRs and PAs in Kuala Lumpur.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the issue of insufficient\u00a0parking spaces in PPR and PA areas, Ismail Sabri said the government was looking into several ways\u00a0to solve the problem, and among the\u00a0solutions proposed was to build a multi-story car park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8212;
