KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 15 \u00a0— Negotiations on seat allocation\u00a0among the Perikatan Nasional (PN) component parties for the Melaka state election will be finalized soon, said Bersatu secretary-general\u00a0Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said the Melaka Bersatu\u00a0chief Datuk Mohd Rafiq Naizamohideen, who is also\u00a0the State PN chairman, had drawn up\u00a0strategies\u00a0to mobilize the party machinery\u00a0at the\u00a0grassroots\u00a0level together with other component parties to face the election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hamzah said\u00a0Bersatu and the PN component parties would intensify the existing outreach programs in all 28 Melaka state constituencies, including the Gerai Prihatin Rakyat initiative which had\u00a0received\u00a0an\u00a0overwhelming response\u00a0from the people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, he said the Bersatu supreme council meeting held yesterday had discussed the party\u2019s preparations to face the Melaka election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBersatu is ready to face the Melaka election with thorough preparations,\u201d he said in a statement today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Melaka state assembly was dissolved<\/a> on Oct 4 after four state assemblymen\u00a0announced they have lost confidence in and were withdrawing their support for Chief Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali\u2019s leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The four assemblymen were Datuk Seri Idris Haron (Sungai Udang), Datuk Nor Azman Hassan (Pantai Kundor), Datuk Norhizam Hassan Baktee (Pengkalan Batu) and Datuk Noor Effandi Ahmad (Telok Mas).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Election Commission (EC) will hold a special meeting on Oct 18 to discuss the implementation of the state election including the date for the issuance of the writ of election, nomination day, polling day and the electoral roll to be used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
