Tengku Zafrul"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR,&nbsp;Sept 23 &nbsp;&#8212;&nbsp;Development financial institutions (DFIs) have implemented various financing schemes &#8212; especially for the micro&nbsp;small and medium enterprises (micro-SMEs) &#8212;&nbsp;through Bank Negara Malaysia\u2019s funds,&nbsp;to the tune of RM8.1&nbsp;billion.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finance Minister\u00a0Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz said DFIs such as Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN), Bank Rakyat, Agro Bank, and SME Bank will\u00a0continue to play a role in supporting the survival of micro-SME entrepreneurs by facilitating loans through various soft loan packages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn fact, recently, the ministry has&nbsp;advised DFIs to come up with more practical solutions&nbsp;such as using&nbsp;less onerous criteria so that&nbsp;businesses can recover and resume their operations&nbsp;as soon as possible following the reopening of more economic and social sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAdditionally, DFIs also need to prioritise investment strategies for micro-SMEs which are involved in innovations&nbsp;as well as those that are transitioning to digital operations,&#8221; he said in reply to a supplementary oral question from Datuk&nbsp;Mohd Fasiah Mohd Fakeh&nbsp;(Bersatu-Sabak Bernam) in the Dewan Rakyat today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Screen-Shot-2021-06-29-at-17.11.16.png\" alt=\"DFIs\" class=\"wp-image-10135\" width=\"475\" height=\"256\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Screen-Shot-2021-06-29-at-17.11.16.png 588w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Screen-Shot-2021-06-29-at-17.11.16-300x162.png 300w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Screen-Shot-2021-06-29-at-17.11.16-185x100.png 185w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Screen-Shot-2021-06-29-at-17.11.16-350x189.png 350w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 475px) 100vw, 475px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Mohd Fasiah had asked about the DFIs roles and the distribution of the Prihatin Special Grant (GKP) to help micro-SME entrepreneurs.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tengku Zafrul said that RM1 billion will be channeled to\u00a0one million GKP 4.0 recipients, including\u00a0current GKP recipients and approved new applicants, and the payments will be directly credited to the bank accounts registered in the GKP system.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He highlighted\u00a0that to date, close to 196,000 GKP recipients in Selangor have received GKP payments totaling\u00a0RM1.2 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Payments under the GKP 4.0 will be made in September (RM500) and November (RM500) this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He added that in total,\u00a0the government has channeled RM6.08 billion to\u00a0over one million micro-SMEs in the country under the GKP scheme since the COVID-19 pandemic hit Malaysian shores last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8212;
