Kuala Lumpur, Sept 22 — Umno stalwart Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah has resigned as chairman of Umno\u2019s advisory council, voicing disappointment with the current Cabinet line-up under Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a letter to UMNO President Zahid Hamidi dated September 20th, sighted by NMT, Ku Li expressed his disappointment that nearly all Cabinet posts under Ismail Sabri’s administration have been taken up by those from the previous \u201cfailed government\u201d despite concerns among the public and grassroots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOf course the elected leaders and members of the government who replaced the \u2018failed\u2019 administration received the blessing of the Umno leadership,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCan they help our party avenge our previous defeat in the 15th general election (GE15) and end the hung parliament? Can we rely on them to bring our party victory in GE15?\u201d he asked, referring to Umno\u2019s allies in the current government, namely Bersatu and PAS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thanking Zahid for allowing him to play a role in Umno\u2019s journey, he nonetheless said that his resignation from his \u201cunconstitutional\u201d position would take effect immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Umno Advisory Council also includes Zahid, Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan, and Ismail Sabri, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
