Australia&#8217;s Seismology Research Center reported that preliminary readings showed the quake lasted around 20 seconds.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison who is in New York for a UN meeting said that there had been no reports of serious injuries.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Screen-Shot-2021-09-22-at-12.12.21.png\" alt=\"victoria\" class=\"wp-image-11651\" width=\"450\" height=\"285\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Screen-Shot-2021-09-22-at-12.12.21.png 505w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Screen-Shot-2021-09-22-at-12.12.21-300x190.png 300w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Screen-Shot-2021-09-22-at-12.12.21-158x100.png 158w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Screen-Shot-2021-09-22-at-12.12.21-350x222.png 350w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;They are very rare events in Australia, and as a result, I&#8217;m sure people would have been quite distressed and disturbed by that, particularly in the most immediate area affected,&#8221; Morrison said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Residents across metropolitan Melbourne and rural Victoria reported violent shaking. Building damage has been reported across Melbourne, and apartment buildings are being evacuated in inner Melbourne.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&#8220;I felt the shaking start from upstairs.
