KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 15 — The Defence Ministry will provide assistance and work together with the Education Ministry to ensure that the reopening of schools in stages from Oct 3 will go smoothly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Senior Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said the cooperation\u00a0involved the preparation of classrooms in addition to ensuring\u00a0a\u00a0smooth vaccination\u00a0process for students,\u00a0providing COVID-19 test kits, and empowering tuition centers at\u00a0schools\u00a0in\u00a0armed forces camps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are with\u00a0Senior Education Minister Datuk Dr. Radzi Jidin\u00a0all the way because he is doing this for the benefit of the students\u00a0and their future,\u201d\u00a0he told\u00a0a joint\u00a0press conference with Radzi at Wisma Pertahanan today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier, Hishammuddin and Radzi held a meeting which was also attended by Deputy Health Minister Datuk Dr. Noor Azmi Ghazali, officers from the National Security Council (MKN), Malaysian Armed Forces as well as\u00a0the National Recovery Plan (PPN) team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Schools will reopen in stages from Oct 3 and students will take turns to attend school, with attendance set at 50 percent of the classroom capacity to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hishammuddin said his ministry\u00a0would work closely with the Education Ministry in an effort to empower tuition centers in\u00a0MAF\u00a0camps, including by improving learning modules and providing training to the teachers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the COVID-19 vaccination for students, including children of MAF staff, he\u00a0said the Royal Health Corps was always ready to be mobilized at any time to assist the Health\u00a0Ministry, including through the Combat Medic Vaccination Tea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said the process of inoculating teachers at schools in ATM camps nationwide was running smoothly and so far 1,990 out of 2,169 people had completed their COVID-19 vaccination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is a good development, especially in the context of health ahead of the reopening of schools and face-to-face teaching and learning sessions in several states soon,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
