KUALA LUMPUR,\u00a0Sept 11 \u2013 Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) and fellow component parties in Perikatan Nasional will continue to work with the government\u00a0to help realize the country\u2019s recovery efforts until the next general election.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bersatu president\u00a0Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin until then (general election), party members must begin preparations by focusing on efforts to strengthen the party at the grassroots and to avoid squabbles.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAvoid feelings of envy and jealousy, consolidate unity, forge stronger cooperation and enhance efforts to make Bersatu as the people\u2019s party of choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen that time (general election) comes,\u00a0Perikatan Nasional, with me as chairman, will be contesting.\u00a0InsyaAllah,\u00a0with the people\u2019s support, we will make a comeback,\u201d he said in his speech at the party\u2019s fifth-anniversary celebrations streamed live on Facebook tonight.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The former prime minister, who is now National Recovery Council chairman, said cooperation among PN component parties must be strengthened, especially at the division and branch levels. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur policy is that we should not be alone when facing the elections. We need the support of Perikatan Nasional component parties and other alliance parties to win the (general) election and form the government,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Muhyiddin also wants\u00a0Bersatu to prove that the party practiced a different political culture and that its leadership values were based on integrity and trust\u00a0which do not condone corruption and abuse of power.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur politics is politics of service. The politics of caring. The politics of service to the people regardless of race and religion. Our politics is not politics of envy and jealousy. It is not extreme racial politics. It is not about being antagonistic, being greedy and power crazy,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe do not meddle in matters of the court. We respect\u00a0the principle of the separation of powers\u00a0between the Executive, Legislature, and the Judiciary.\u00a0We are also committed to\u00a0the institutional reform agenda that guarantees good governance,\u201d\u00a0he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Muhyiddin also announced the set up of the Bersatu Leadership Academy, which will hold a series of training sessions based on the spirit and values of the party. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe academy will also focus on the national spirit based on Islam that cares for people of all races and religions,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
