PUTRAJAYA, Sept 4\u00a0—\u00a0The moratorium period\u00a0for\u00a0the renewal\u00a0of Motor Vehicle Licences (LKM) and Malaysian Driving Licences (LMM) has been extended until Dec 31 said Minister for Transport Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He further stated that holders of LKM\u00a0which had expired must ensure their vehicles have\u00a0valid insurance coverage and present\u00a0their e-cover note\u00a0to the authorities\u00a0upon request, including for inspection purposes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Road Transport Department (RTD) had previously said that the renewal period of LKM and LMM would not be extended after Sept 30. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It said renewals can\u00a0be done at\u00a0counter services at RTD offices,\u00a0Pos Malaysia Bhd\u2019s branches,\u00a0through MyEG Services Sdn Bhd (MyEG), and at\u00a0the Computerised Vehicle Inspection Centre (Puspakom).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Wee said the ministry also agreed to allow RTD and Puspakom counters to operate at 100 percent capacity for walk-in service from Monday (Sept\u00a06).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cStarting Sept 6, RTD will also stop the online appointment system. Customers who want to perform transactions at counters must be fully vaccinated and show their COVID-19 low-risk status on the MySejahtera application,\u201d he told a media conference on the matter today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wee said the public was also encouraged to use the online services on the RTD\u2019s mySIKAP portal or through Pos Malaysia, MyEG, Puspakom services to perform their transactions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is to avoid congestions at RTD counters and facilitate the public in renewing their LKM and  LMM,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also reminded the public to comply with the standard operating procedure set when performing transactions at the counters to prevent the spread of COVID-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
