Shopee will distribute food aid boxes to 50,000 families from underprivileged and marginalized communities nationwide under its \u2018Kotak Kasih Shopee\u2019 initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The e-commerce platform is collaborating with the non-governmental organization (NGO),\u00a0Food Aid Foundation to identify and assist residents from low-cost housing projects, welfare homes, the disabled, and the Orang Asli community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shopee chief operating officer Terence Pang\u00a0said the \u2018Kotak Kasih Shopee\u2019 was one of the programs under the\u00a0#ShopeeGivesBack campaign aimed at creating awareness and encouraging contributions to the various welfare organizations as well as support\u00a0marginalized communities, including animals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among the contributions to be distributed are basic food items like rice, vermicelli, sugar, chocolate malt drinks, biscuits, creamer, cooking oil, canned sardines, coffee, and soap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Screen-Shot-2021-08-30-at-19.37.36.png\" alt=\"Shopee\" class=\"wp-image-11195\" width=\"535\" height=\"333\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Screen-Shot-2021-08-30-at-19.37.36.png 582w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Screen-Shot-2021-08-30-at-19.37.36-300x187.png 300w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Screen-Shot-2021-08-30-at-19.37.36-160x100.png 160w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Screen-Shot-2021-08-30-at-19.37.36-350x218.png 350w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 535px) 100vw, 535px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are grateful that we are able to help the needy, especially now when they are facing the COVID-19 pandemic and this initiative is not possible without the cooperation of Felda&nbsp;and Food Aid Foundation,\u201d he said in&nbsp;a statement today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>KPF Trading Sdn Bhd\u00a0senior manager\u00a0Mohd Irwan Ahmad Sanusi said that besides providing assistance to marginalized communities, the initiative would see products from Koperasi Permodalan Felda and local entrepreneurs\u00a0included in the \u2018Kotak Kasih Shopee\u2019 package.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe also created job opportunities for youths from Felda settlements in Negeri Sembilan for the packaging of the food aid boxes,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Food Aid Foundation founder&nbsp;Rick Chee, meanwhile, hoped that more such collaborations could be forged between the public and private sectors for the benefit of the local communities since many are finding it tough to earn a living due to the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Food Aid Foundation is very excited to be part of the&nbsp;initiative to identify local communities that are in need and help distribute these food aid boxes,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8212;
