KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 18 — A lawsuit filed by a former research assistant to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim against the PKR president has been served on the legal firm representing Anwar, by hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The suit was served on the defendant’s lawyers by\u00a0Muhammed Yusoff Rawther, who filed the said lawsuit\u00a0on July 15, claiming and detailing an alleged sexual assault on his person at Anwar\u2019s residence three years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Counsel Mahajoth Singh who is representing Muhammed Yusoff said the writ and the statement of claim\u00a0had been served today\u00a0on the lawyer representing Anwar as a defendant from the legal firm, Ranjit Singh & Yeoh at its\u00a0office in Solaris Dutamas, here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The court also set Sept 9 for further case management,” he said when contacted by reporters after case management via\u00a0e-review before High Court deputy registrar Idamasliza Maarof, today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his statement of claim, Muhammed Yusoff, 28, alleged the sexual assault took place on Oct 2 2018 at the residence of\u00a0Anwar, 73\u00a0in Segambut when he was asked by Anwar\u2019s private secretary, Shukri Saad to deliver a speech text in conjunction with the 150th\u00a0anniversary of\u00a0Mahatma Gandhi organized by the Indian High Commission to the defendant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The plaintiff alleged Anwar sexually assaulted and molested him while he\u00a0rejected\u00a0the defendant\u2019s advances\u00a0and pleaded with him\u00a0to stop committing the act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He claimed the defendant then appeared upset and disappointed and\u00a0before leaving\u00a0the defendant told the plaintiff, “I want to do this again” in which the plaintiff replied that he would never be alone in a room with the defendant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the incident,\u00a0Muhammed Yusoff claimed there was no communication between them for about a month, even though the plaintiff was still working with the defendant in the office before being transferred to Yayasan Aman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The plaintiff, who resigned from\u00a0Yayasan Aman on June 24, 2019, made a police report against Anwar on Dec 7 2019 and the plaintiff took a polygraph test at the police headquarters in Bukit Aman on Dec 17 the same year and claimed the\u00a0defendant declined to take the test.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Muhammed Yusoff, the Attorney-General\u2019s Chambers had issued a media statement that there was insufficient evidence to charge Anwar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The plaintiff alleged as a result of the incident, he was accused of plotting the bring down and destroy the political career of the defendant, and apart from a\u00a0mental health impact to\u00a0the plaintiff from criticism from political leaders supporting Anwar as well as members of the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As such, the plaintiff is claiming compensation for special, general, aggravated, and exemplary damages and\u00a0interest, as well as other reliefs, deemed fit\u00a0by the court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
