{"id":10688,"date":"2021-08-10T19:37:35","date_gmt":"2021-08-10T11:37:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/?p=10688"},"modified":"2021-08-10T19:37:36","modified_gmt":"2021-08-10T11:37:36","slug":"dewan-rakyat-number-of-those-allowed-in-for-next-session-to-be-decided","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/?p=10688","title":{"rendered":"Dewan Rakyat: Number of those allowed in for next session to be decided"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 10 &#8212; The&nbsp;number of individuals, including Members&nbsp;of Parliament, allowed to be present at the first meeting of the fourth&nbsp;session&nbsp;of the&nbsp;14th Parliament beginning Sept 6 will be decided as a preventive measure against the spread of COVID-19,&nbsp;Deputy Speaker Datuk Mohd Rashid Hasnon said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said this is to&nbsp;ensure the session runs smoothly and to prevent COVID-19 transmissions, as in the case of what&nbsp;had&nbsp;transpired during the special five-day sitting at the end of July.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this regard, he said the&nbsp;Dewan Rakyat Committee, based on advice by the Health Ministry (MoH) and the National Security Council (MKN),&nbsp;will call in and have discussions with both the government and Opposition chief whips soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs done\u00a0before this, the Dewan Rakyat Committee will call in both chief whips for discussion (on\u00a0attendance numbers).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Screen-Shot-2021-08-10-at-19.32.45.png\" alt=\"session\" class=\"wp-image-10689\" width=\"536\" height=\"289\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Screen-Shot-2021-08-10-at-19.32.45.png 584w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Screen-Shot-2021-08-10-at-19.32.45-300x162.png 300w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Screen-Shot-2021-08-10-at-19.32.45-185x100.png 185w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Screen-Shot-2021-08-10-at-19.32.45-350x189.png 350w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 536px) 100vw, 536px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLearn from what happened during the recent special sitting, we need more solid prevention measures in place,\u201d he told Bernama after handing out food baskets to 50 veteran artists in a program organised by the\u00a0Malaysian Veteran\u00a0Artistes\u00a0Welfare Association\u00a0(PKAVM) in\u00a0Desa Melawati here today.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The special sitting&nbsp;of the&nbsp;third&nbsp;session of the 14th Parliament for Dewan Rakyat&nbsp;was supposed to take place from July 26 to 29, and Aug 2, but only met for four days and was postponed&nbsp;after COVID-19 cases were detected in the Parliament building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Up to Aug 8, a total of 88 positive cases were detected involving individuals who attended the special sitting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As for the motion of confidence&nbsp;on Prime Minister&nbsp;Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin that is expected to be tabled in the upcoming meeting,&nbsp;Mohd Rashid said Parliament has yet to receive such a motion.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c\u2026&nbsp;we have yet to receive it to date.
