{"id":10630,"date":"2021-08-08T13:32:35","date_gmt":"2021-08-08T05:32:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/?p=10630"},"modified":"2021-08-08T13:32:35","modified_gmt":"2021-08-08T05:32:35","slug":"two-umno-division-chiefs-resign-from-university-board-posts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/?p=10630","title":{"rendered":"Two UMNO division chiefs resign from university board posts"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>KOTA KINABALU, Aug\u00a08\u00a0&#8212; UMNO Supreme Council member\u00a0Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan today resigned as the\u00a0chairman\u00a0of Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) board of directors with immediate effect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Abdul Rahman who is also Tuaran UMNO division chief said this was in line&nbsp;with the decision made at the UMNO Supreme Council meeting on Aug 3 and as a member of the&nbsp;Supreme Council he has to adhere to the resolution and remained loyal to the party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTherefore, I am resigning as chairman&nbsp;of&nbsp;Universiti Malaysia Sabah board&nbsp;of directors with immediate effect,\u201d he said in a statement today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also thanked all staff of UMS for their cooperation during his&nbsp;tenure at the university.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Abdul Rahman, the former Kota Belud (Sabah) MP was appointed to the post on Feb 3 this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, in PENANG, Balik Pulau UMNO division chief\u00a0Datuk Shah Headan Ayoob Hussain Shah also announced his resignation as a member of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) board of directors and as\u00a0UPM Holdings Sdn Bhd director\u00a0with immediate effect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Screen-Shot-2021-08-08-at-13.30.10.png\" alt=\"board\" class=\"wp-image-10631\" width=\"532\" height=\"355\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Screen-Shot-2021-08-08-at-13.30.10.png 654w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Screen-Shot-2021-08-08-at-13.30.10-300x200.png 300w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Screen-Shot-2021-08-08-at-13.30.10-150x100.png 150w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Screen-Shot-2021-08-08-at-13.30.10-350x234.png 350w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 532px) 100vw, 532px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Shah Headan who was the former assemblyman of Teluk Bahang (Penang) said his decision followed central UMNO\u2019s decision to&nbsp;withdraw its support for Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I take&nbsp;the responsibility as a party member to continue&nbsp;to abide by and respect any decision and ruling of the party.
