{"id":10525,"date":"2021-08-03T17:49:06","date_gmt":"2021-08-03T09:49:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/?p=10525"},"modified":"2021-08-03T17:49:07","modified_gmt":"2021-08-03T09:49:07","slug":"malaysia-receives-415000-doses-of-astrazeneca-vaccine-contributed-by-uk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/?p=10525","title":{"rendered":"Malaysia receives 415,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine contributed by UK"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>SEPANG, Aug 3 &#8212;&nbsp;Malaysia today&nbsp;received 415,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine contributed by the United Kingdom (UK), which will further boost&nbsp;the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The consignment was flown in via&nbsp;Emirates Airlines&nbsp;EK 346 which&nbsp;landed&nbsp;at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) here at 2.20 pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On hand to receive the vaccines&nbsp;were&nbsp;PICK Coordinating Minister Khairy Jamaluddin,&nbsp;Senior Minister of Foreign Affairs (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein,&nbsp;Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba and British High Commissioner to Malaysia Charles Hay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The vaccine supply is the fourth contribution from foreign countries\u00a0to Malaysia. Prior to this, Japan had donated 998,400 doses of AstraZeneca,\u00a0the United States\u00a0contributed 1,000,350 doses of Pfizer\u00a0and China gave\u00a0500,000 doses of the Sinovac vaccine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Screen-Shot-2021-08-03-at-17.45.48.png\" alt=\"astrazeneca vaccine\" class=\"wp-image-10526\" width=\"521\" height=\"282\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Screen-Shot-2021-08-03-at-17.45.48.png 588w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Screen-Shot-2021-08-03-at-17.45.48-300x163.png 300w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Screen-Shot-2021-08-03-at-17.45.48-184x100.png 184w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Screen-Shot-2021-08-03-at-17.45.48-350x190.png 350w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 521px) 100vw, 521px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Expressing appreciation for the UK&#8217;s contribution in a joint press conference with Hay, Khairy said: &#8220;This contribution will ramp up vaccination in Malaysia.
