National men\u2019s doubles shuttlers&nbsp;Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik, fresh from winning the bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, arrived home today with a smile of satisfaction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Aaron-Wooi Yik were among the 23-member Malaysian contingent comprising 11 athletes from archery, athletics, shooting and badminton who arrived at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) here at 5.20 pm via flight MH0071.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All the athletes, among them archer Khairul Anuar Muhammad, sprinter Azreen Nabila Alias as well as men and women\u2019s singles shuttlers Lee Zii Jia and Soniia Cheah Su Ya, had completed their events in Tokyo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Aaron-Wooi Yik, who are the world number nine, managed to stop for a while to pose with their bronze medals before saying: \u201cThank you Malaysia.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Screen-Shot-2021-08-02-at-22.51.13.png\" alt=\"bronze\" class=\"wp-image-10517\" width=\"510\" height=\"276\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Screen-Shot-2021-08-02-at-22.51.13.png 716w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Screen-Shot-2021-08-02-at-22.51.13-300x163.png 300w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Screen-Shot-2021-08-02-at-22.51.13-185x100.png 185w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Screen-Shot-2021-08-02-at-22.51.13-350x190.png 350w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 510px) 100vw, 510px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The duo then joined the others from the contingent to board a bus to be taken to a location to undergo the 14-day compulsory quarantine in line with the standard operating procedure (SOP) set by the National Security Council (MKN) due to the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Deputy Youth and Sports Minister\u00a0Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal, Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) deputy president\u00a0Datuk Seri Abdul Azim Mohd Zabidi,\u00a0National Sports Institute (NSI) chief executive officer Ahmad Faedzal Md Ramli and Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) secretary-general\u00a0Datuk Kenny Goh were among those present to welcome the national contingent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The bronze won stylishly by Aaron-Wooi Yik is the Malaysian contingent\u2019s first medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Aaron, 24, and Wooi Yik, 23, bounced back from a first-game defeat to capture the bronze by outlasting&nbsp;Indonesian second seeds&nbsp;Mohammad Ahsan-Hendra Setiawan&nbsp;17-21, 21-17, 21-14 in a gripping 52-minute clash Saturday (July 31).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Their success ensured that the badminton camp did not return home empty-handed after being touted as the country\u2019s best medal hopes together with the track cyclists and divers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Several other athletes, among them Leong Mun Yee (women\u2019s diving), Farah Ann Abdul Hadi (women\u2019s artistic gymnastics) and mixed doubles shuttler Goh Liu Ying, had returned home on July 26 after completing their events.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;
