ANKARA, July 7 — Italy reached the Euro 2020 final after beating Spain in a penalty shootout Tuesday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fans at London\u2019s Wembley Stadium witnessed a tight match in the first half with both sides having just a few attempts on goal, reported Anadolu Agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spain came close to scoring in the 25th minute, but Dani Olmo’s shot from the penalty spot was blocked by Gianluigi Donnarumma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first half ended 0-0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Italy took a 1-0 lead with Federico Chiesa’s brilliant finish after a great counter-attack in the 60th minute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spain had a chance to level the score five minutes later, but Mikel Oyarzabal failed to make contact with the header, missing a huge opportunity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But Spain was more effective during the rest of the match and Alvaro Morata scored the equalizer in the 80th minute with a close-range finish assisted by Olmo as the game went into extra time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was Morata\u2019s third goal at Euro 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both sides failed to score during extra time and the match went into penalties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Italy defeated Spain 4-2 on penalties with both teams missing their first penalties while Morata missed Spain’s fourth kick. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Italy on Sunday\u2019s final in Wembly will play the winner of the England vs. Denmark match\u00a0on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
