KOTA KINABALU, March 29 — The leadership qualities shown by Sabah UMNO liaison committee chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, who is continuing the political cooperation with Bersatu to ensure the development of the state and its people, should be emulated.

Sabah Bersatu information chief Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan said the party was convinced that the development sought by Sabahans could be achieved under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Hajiji Noor and the state leadership, aided by Bung Moktar, who is the Deputy Chief Minister I.

“Sabah Bersatu welcomes the statement issued by Datuk Seri Bung Moktar to continue its political cooperation with Sabah Bersatu under the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS)… the main focus of the GRS government now is to ensure all plans for the people are expedited.

“Ties with other parties in GRS will always be harmonious to ensure the main focus of the government to govern the state can proceed smoothly and effectively,” he said in a statement here today.

Khairul Firdaus said the main factor Sabah did not achieve success as hoped by Sabahans was because of the constant change of government, adding that the struggle for the people must be made the main agenda in the state administration under GRS.

Yesterday, Bung Moktar was reported to have said that Sabah UMNO would maintain its stand to cooperate with the GRS for the sake of Sabahans, although the central UMNO leadership plans to go solo in the 15th General Election.

GRS comprises component parties of Perikatan Nasional (Bersatu, Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku, Sabah Progressive Party and PAS); Barisan Nasional (UMNO, Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah, MCA, MIC); and Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS).
