
KUALA LUMPUR, April 22 – Deputy Speaker of Parliament Datuk Rashid Hasnon says that Malaysia receives international recognition for the way the country has handled the COVID-19 pandemic.
He says that after concluding a teleconference entitled “The Role of Parliament in for International Cooperation to Defeat COVID-19” where 7 panelists from Asian countries such as Indonesia, Vietnam and South Korea, as well as World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations last night.
“Praise be to God, Malaysia receives international recognition for the way the country has handled the pandemic.” Rashid said in a statement.
As one of the 7 panelists, Rashid says that he stressed the importance of international cooperation and the sharing of information so that fight against COVID-19 will be more effective.
“I insisted on the importance of diplomatic collaboration in finding solutions and exchanging information in order to assist countries preparedness at curbing the spread of COVID-19,” he said.
As for the Malaysian Parliament, Rashid said that preventive measures have been taken to ensure continuity of the next sitting.
Parliament will be sitting for one day on May 18, 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic and Movement Control Order (MCO).
