PUTRAJAYA, March 13 – Malaysian Minister of Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Azmin Ali exchanged views with HE Heng Swee Keat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of Singapore this morning in relation to enhancing cooperation in facing COVID19 pandemic.
“HE Heng and I exchanged views on how Singapore and Malaysia can work together to enhance our relations as we enter a new phase of closer and more productive cooperation.” he tweeted.
Paramound for both countries to enhance cooperation
Azmin also said that taking into consideration the close geographical proximity and shared borders between Malaysia and Singapore, it is paramount for both countries to enhance cooperation in facing the COVID-19 pandemic.
The senior minister also expressed his appreciation to HE Heng for giving him a congratulatory phone call in relation to his new post in the government.
Azmin’s recent appointment as a senior minister in the new Perikatan Nasional government and Minister of Trade and Industry have drawn mixed reactions from the public.
Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin also named Azmin as the person to chair cabinet meetings in his absence.
