Cops visit Anwar’s house in Bukit Segambut

Bukit Segambut

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 12 – PKR president Anwar Ibrahim spent over one hour at the Bukit Aman police headquarters to assist with investigation into a sexual misconduct complaint against him; before police accompanied him to his house in Bukit Segambut, yesterday.

Anwar was accompanied by his lawyer Ramkarpal Singh, is reported to have given his full cooperation to police in the hour-long meeting.

“Throughout the process, I have provided facts and given my full cooperation to the police,” Anwar said in a statement. He also complimented the police personnel for acting professional.

A probe under Section 354 of the Penal Code by Bukit Aman’s Classified Criminal Investigation Unit was launched a few days ago, based on a police report lodged by Muhammed Yusoff Rawther on Dec 7.

Punishment up to 10 year prison, fine and/or whips

Section 354 covers assault or use of criminal force to a person with the intent to outrage modesty, and carries a punishment of imprisonment for a term which may extend to ten years or with fine or with whipping or with any two of such punishments.

Yusoff made a press conference last week which was also streamed on Facebook Live, where he claimed that a senior politician had committed a crime against him; described as “un-Islamic, vile, insidious and morally repugnant”.

Bukit Segambut mentioned in Yusoff’s Statutory Declaration

A statutory declaration detailing an incident that allegedly took place at Anwar’s private residence in Bukit Segambut was leaked on social media last week.
