
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 11 – PKR President Anwar Ibrahim has said that he is ready to give his statement to the police to help with investigation over sexual assault claims made by Mohammed Yusoff Rawther.
In a short statement today, Anwar also thanked the police for expediting their investigation over the matter.
“Referring to the latest slanderous allegation towards me, I thanked the police for expediting their investigations.
“I’d like to stress that that I am ready to give statement to the police immediately to assist with the investigation,” he said in the statement.
Police call Anwar to give statement
The police had earlier issued a statement that they will be calling Anwar to help with the investigation.
CID chief Huzir Mohamed confirmed this in a statement, stating that an investigation had been opened under Section 354 of the Penal Code.
Section 354 covers assault or use of criminal force to a person with the intent to outrage modesty, and carries a punishment of imprisonment for a term which may extend to ten years or with fine or with whipping or with any two of such punishments..
