Malaysia Explores Opportunities to Join Embraer Aerospace Supply Chain

Malaysia Embraer defence supply chain

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 3 – Malaysia is actively exploring strategic cooperation with Brazil-based Embraer Defense & Security to integrate local companies into the aerospace giant’s regional and global supply chains.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin stated that the initiative was discussed during a courtesy call by Embraer’s Chief Commercial Officer, Frederico Lemos, at Wisma Pertahanan on Friday, October 2, 2026.

Highlighting Embraer’s expertise in aircraft manufacturing and integrated defence technology, Mohamed Khaled emphasized the potential for long-term industrial collaboration.

“This meeting paves the way to explore collaboration in developing the local downstream ecosystem and opportunities for Malaysia to participate in Embraer’s supply chain at regional and global levels,” Mohamed Khaled shared in an official Facebook update.

Alignment with National Defence Policy

The potential partnership directly supports the strategic objectives of Malaysia’s National Defence Industry Policy (DIPN), which aims to enhance local manufacturing capabilities, foster technological transfer, and expand the footprint of domestic aerospace vendors in international supply networks.
