KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 1 – Bursa Malaysia continued its downward trend at midday on Thursday, October 1, 2026, as selling pressure persisted across the board, tracking mixed global market performance amid rising United States Treasury yields.
At 12:30 PM, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) slid 15.36 points to 1,635.81 compared to Wednesday’s close of 1,651.17.
The main index opened 1.30 points lower at 1,649.87 and fluctuated between an intraday low of 1,634.39 and a high of 1,649.87 throughout the morning session.
Broader market sentiment remained negative, with decliners outpacing gainers 583 to 305, while 464 counters traded unchanged, 1,421 untraded, and 12 suspended. Half-day turnover stood at 1.65 billion shares valued at RM1.18 billion.
Heavyweights and Active Stocks
Major banking, utility, and healthcare blue chips pulled the benchmark index lower:
- IHH Healthcare contracted 19 sen to RM7.64.
- Maybank and Tenaga Nasional lost 6 sen each to RM9.93 and RM12.90, respectively.
- CIMB decreased 5 sen to RM7.74.
- Public Bank fell 4 sen to RM4.66.
Among active counters, Zetrix AI and V.S Industry both added half a sen to 16.5 sen and 28.5 sen, respectively. Dagang Nexchange rose 1.5 sen to 50 sen, while Jaks Resources eased half a sen to 20 sen and ACE Market debutant GB Bond dropped 2.5 sen to 22.5 sen.
Technology and plantation counters featured among the top gainers:
- Malaysian Pacific Industries: Advanced RM1.26 to RM41.66.
- MI Technovation: Rose 13 sen to RM5.33.
- Ta Ann: Accumulated 12 sen to RM5.92.
- Malayan Cement: Strengthened 11 sen to RM5.56.
- Genting Plantations: Improved 10 sen to RM5.63.
Declining counters were led by Kuala Lumpur Kepong, which dropped 76 sen to RM21.44. Other notable pullbacks included Allianz Malaysia (down 62 sen to RM21.00), as well as Fraser & Neave, Hong Leong Industries, and Batu Kawan, which trimmed 42 sen each to RM21.32, RM16.04, and RM20.10, respectively.
Index and Sectoral Performance
All major sector indices posted declines at the midday break, led by financial services and plantation stocks:
- The Financial Services Index dropped 148.77 points to 19,067.72.
- The Plantation Index tumbled 121.85 points to 9,074.82.
- The Energy Index eased 7.79 points to 837.91.
- The Industrial Products and Services Index slipped 1.16 points to 178.80.

- The FBM Top 100 Index fell 99.00 points to 11,985.44.
- The FBM Emas Index declined 94.18 points to 12,197.83.
