KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 29 – A total of 31 areas across Malaysia recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 9:00 AM on Tuesday, September 29.
According to data published on the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal, elevated API levels were detected across several states and federal territories:
- Sarawak: The Serian Police Headquarters recorded an API reading of 175.
- Johor: Pasir Gudang and Larkin reported readings of 170 and 169, respectively.
- Melaka: Bandaraya Melaka logged an API level of 166.
- Negeri Sembilan: Nilai recorded a reading of 165.
- Selangor: Johan Setia registered an API level of 163.
- Kuala Lumpur: Batu Muda in the capital recorded an API reading of 114.
Additionally, APIMS data indicated that 30 areas across the nation registered moderate API levels, while seven locations maintained good air quality readings.
Under the national air quality guidelines, an API value of 0 to 50 indicates good air quality; 51 to 100 represents moderate air quality; 101 to 200 is categorized as unhealthy; 201 to 300 is classified as very unhealthy; and readings of 300 and above represent hazardous conditions.
