GEORGE TOWN, Sept 28 – Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow is leading a strategic state investment and trade mission to the United States (US) from Sept 28 to Oct 5 to strengthen economic ties with American investors and attract fresh capital.
Organized by InvestPenang, the state’s investment promotion agency, the eight-day mission focuses on renewing relationships and forging closer links with the corporate headquarters of US multinational companies operating in the state.
In a statement on Monday, the Penang Chief Minister’s Office said the delegation aims to update US business leaders on Penang’s latest industrial developments, including strategic ecosystem initiatives such as Penang Silicon Design @5km+ and the Penang ATE Campus, alongside infrastructure enhancements and policy updates aimed at facilitating foreign investment.
“By enhancing visibility and further promoting Penang as a preferred investment location, the mission also targets potential investors in industries such as semiconductors, including integrated circuit design, advanced packaging and equipment manufacturing; medical devices and global business services,” the statement read.
During the mission, Chow and the InvestPenang delegation will engage in a series of high-level meetings and site visits with the corporate headquarters of key US investors.
The engagements offer a vital platform to showcase Penang’s innovation, competitiveness, and long-term strategic vision as a premier investment destination in Southeast Asia.
