KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 27 – AWG Muay Thai fighter Sharudin Yahya pulled off an impressive upset by knocking out Mohd Ikhwan Hakim of Gorilla Muay Thai to win the 52-kilogramme (kg) title at the Kuda Merah International Muaythai Challenge 2026 ‘Super Championships’ on Sunday.
Competing at the Titiwangsa Stadium, the 26-year-old Sharudin secured a decisive third-round knockout (KO) victory to claim the championship belt.
Speaking after the match, Sharudin admitted he was surprised by the outcome given his opponent’s vastly superior ring experience.
“He (Mohd Ikhwan) has fought more than 100 times, compared with around 30 fights for me. I am still new, and he is more experienced than me,” Sharudin said.
The victory marks a significant milestone for the fighter, who expressed hope that the title win will serve as a catalyst for future achievements in the Muay Thai arena.
The two-day tournament featured 28 fighters from Malaysia and overseas competing for a total of 14 title belts.
